Moby Dave is a humor article about a nautical adventure. The hypothetical magazine spread, Tropical Times, includes watercolor illustrations that are based off of different moments from the story. The watercolor was done in separate layers and composited into one painting. The magazine details such as the footer, page numbers, and introduction summary tie in the theme of the magazine.
I wanted the paintings to be very bright with a variety of blue schemes. The half page illustration conveys lots of movement since this part of the story describes a busy setting. The spot illustration has a layout of the bonefish taking up the whole page to show the prize catches by the characters. Each painting has fine marker details as well.
